Alma K. Thompson, 102, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Sunday (December 14, 2003) at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Bill Poland and Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa. Alma was born February 10, 1901 in Eagle Grove, Iowa the daughter of George and Carrie (Larson) Thorson. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School, attended college in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Brookings South Dakota. Alma taught rural school in South Dakota and Iowa for several years. She married Bernard E. Thompson December 26, 1927 in Eagle Grove. They farmed near Titonka, Wesley and Nora Springs before moving to Mason City in 1968. Alma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, UMW, church circle and taught Sunday School for 15 years. Alma is survived by 2 grandchildren, Thomas Halfpap and wife Deb of Mason City, Carrie Halfpap Topp and husband Jack of Newton; great granddaughter, Patience; son-in-law, Alvin C. Halfpap of Boone; brother, Milton Thorson of Florida, sister, Cora Pontious of Sac City. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; daughter, Kathryn ?Kaye?; 8 brothers and sisters.
