Alma S. Karsjens, 97 of Mason City, died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson with the Rev. Matthew Muters officiating. Interment will follow in the Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Alma was born September 23, 1918 the daughter of Louis and Louisa (Schulz) Kruse in Hampton, Iowa. She attended country school and later graduated from Hampton High School in 1936.
Alma enjoyed her church as she was a member of WELCA, quilting group, taught Sunday school and Bible School for many years. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Mason City and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hampton.
Those thankful for having shared in Alma’s life include her sons; Dale (Myra) Karsjens, Marv (Linda) Karsjens of Mason City, ten grandchildren; Shelly (David) Wolfe, Michael (Candi) Karsjens, Ryan Karsjens, Kari (John) Loeser, James (Christy) Hammer, Bradley (Michelle) Hammer, Cheryl (Robert) Moody, Brian (Lisa) Hammer, Brenda (Terry) Wingle, Mark (Nikki) Hammer, thirty great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and beloved nieces.
Mrs. Karsjens was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and son in law; Shirley (Duffy) Hammer, four siblings; Wilbur Kruse, Esther Day, Hilda Merfeld and Sophia Janssen.
