Amy R. Petersen, 86, of 2501 West State Street, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Avenue with Rev. Jim Stiles and Rev. Jo Frahm Watkins officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church on Tuesday one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Amy was born September 17, 1920 in Anita, Iowa the daughter of Byron W. and Florence M. (Bailey) Robison. She received her education in Wiota, Iowa then graduated from Anita High School, Anita, Iowa. Amy married Donald F. Petersen December 17, 1939 in Atlantic, Iowa. They moved to Mason City in 1966. Amy worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 21 years. She retired in 1981. Amy had been a resident of Homestead Assisted Living for the past 4 ½ years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lydia Church Circle, Cradle Roll Volunteer, Pioneer Telephone and a past member of the Mason City Lioness Club. Amy is survived by a son, D. Kendall Petersen and wife Darlene of Mason City; daughter, Dianne Hansen and husband Lou of Waukee; grandchildren, Luanne Austin and husband Mark, Lesley Finn and husband Shaun, Mark Hansen and wife Lisa and Brian Hansen and wife Rachel; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Louis B. Robison of Atlantic; sister, Ruby Littleton of Anita; many nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald in 2000; 2 sisters, Rose Soper and Marie Huddleson.
