Anola Lunning

MASON CITY: Anola E. Lunning, 93, of Mason City, died Monday July 9, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before services. Memorials may be given to the Anola Lunning Memorial Fund. Anola was born December 30, 1918 in Radcliffe, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Thompson) Helland. She attended school s in Forest City. Anola married Virgil L. Lunning August 20, 1937 in Clarion, Iowa. They lived in Ardel, Iowa, Glenville, Minnesota before moving to Mason City in 1986. Anola was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A few of her interests included yard work, flowers, sewing, baking, and her cat. Anola always enjoyed the time spent with family. Anola is survived by her children, Verdell Lunning of Forest City, Jerry (Mona Rae) Lunning of Forest City, Darrell (Wanda) Lunning of Austin, Minnesota, Roger Lunning of Forest City, Denise (Doug) Rogers of Forest City, and Debra (Scott) Loge of Forest City; daughter-in-law, Connie Lunning of Mason City; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Arlin (Norma) Helland of Mason City; sisters, Lila Nyhus of Mason City, and Beverly Clay of Mason City; sisters-in-law, Martha Helland of Mason City, and Mary Helen Helland of New Orleans, Louisiana. Anola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Lynn; brothers, Donald, Arthur Jr., Owen Dale, Robert, and Jerry; sisters, Barbara Ann Corolus, Dorothy Helland, and Lucille Michalek; great grandson, Justin; 2 daughters-in-law, Leola and Linda Lunning.
