Avonne E. Gradin

Avonne E. Gradin, 91, of Mason City, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Matthew Muters, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Avonne Gradin Memorial Fund.

Avonne was born July 8, 1924 in Mason City the daughter of Vincent and Olive (Enabnit) Welsh. She graduated from Mason City High School. Avonne married Clarence LeRoy “Bob” Gradin January 1st, 1946 in Mason City. She worked as a sales clerk for Damon’s Department Store and for a brief time at Capital Optical and Morel Jewelers.

Avonne is survived by her son, Marlin L. Gradin of Clear Lake; 2 granddaughters, Tracy Gradin and Tara Gradin, both of Mason City; 4 great grandchildren, Chace Jacobson, Micah Radcliff, Zaya Gradin and Samuel Gradin; 3 great-great grandchildren, Hayzin, Aaralyn and Noah.

Avonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence “Bob” Gradin in 1977; infant son, Timothy and a great grandchild, Zaid Kahil Gradin Lagios.
