Barbara J. (Stone) Haffner

Barbara J. (Stone) Haffner, 62, of Mason City, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a long battle with cancer.   Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 23, 2008 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania Ave. with the Rev. Steve Hansen officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.  Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or to the Barbara J. Haffner memorial fund in care of the family.
Barbara was born June 20, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Jean (Schmitz) Stone.  She attended Mason City Schools and graduated from Mason City High School.  She attended Hamilton College in Mason City.  Barb worked in Mason City for many years at Fisher Office Equipment and then Zanios Produce.  Barb moved to Perrysburg, Ohio in 1986 where she was an accountant for Comfort Line Inc. in Toledo, OH.
 Barb was a caring, giving person and always helped those around her.  She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and spent some of her best times at the waterpark, trying the newest rollercoaster, or enjoying a trip to Disney World.  Her grandson, Michael even taught her to rollerblade.  Barb loved to fish and spent lots of time on Lake Erie catching walleye with her boyfriend, John.  Barb and John spent many happy years in Ohio; camping, playing cards, fishing, and trying out the local dance floors.  She loved to read, play cards, bowl, and recently took up golf after spending years wondering why anyone would chase a little white ball around.  Barb had an adventurous spirit and would try anything once.  She was a great friend to everyone around her and will be sadly missed.
 Barb was survived by her daughter, Michelle Skadburg and husband Rod of Mason City; grandchildren, Shawn Skadburg of Waterloo, IA and Katie Lee and Jacob Lee of Mason City; mother, Jean Stone of Mason City; brother, David Stone and wife Vicki of Mason City; sister, Nancy Goecke and husband Vince of Great Falls, MT; nephews, Jason Goecke and wife Meaghan of Las Vegas, NV and Paul Goecke and wife Jennifer of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 Waiting for her in heaven are her father, Kenneth Stone; grandson, Michael Skadburg and nephew, Brent Goecke.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or to the Barbara J. Haffner memorial fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
