Barbara Jean Eppens

Barbara J. Eppens, 73, of Mason City, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Barbara J. Eppens Memorial Fund in care of the family.
Barbara was born July 31, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Forrest and Geraldine (Edgar) Hyde. She went to Country School near Shell Rock and graduated from Rock Falls High School on May 14, 1956. She married Duane Eppens at Old Stone United Methodist Church in Rock Falls on June 29, 1958. She was a stay at home mom. Barbara graduated from Hamilton Business School on December 22, 1994. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, reading and crafts. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Duane Eppens; daughter, Tammy (William) Borchardt; sons, Mark and Christopher Eppens; grandchildren, Andrea Borchardt and Bryson Eppens; great-grandchildren, Austin and Asher Eppens; brothers, Bob (Marilyn) Hyde, Jim (Sandra) Hyde; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
