Ben J. Nozicka

December 15, 1922 — April 24, 2008

Ben J. Nozicka, 85, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center.  A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams with Rev. Jon Seda officiating.  Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.  A scriptural wake service will be held at 2:30.  Memorials may be given to the Newman Catholic School System.  Ben was born December 15, 1922 in Mason City the son of John and Hedy (Bubik) Nozicka.  He graduated from Mason City High, Mason City Junior College and attended the University of Iowa.  Ben served in the United State Air Force during W.W. II and was captured and held in a German P.O.W. camp for 11 months.  Following his discharge, he returned to Mason City.  He retired from Winnebago Industries after several years of driving RVs.  Ben was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, VFW, and the Western Fraternal Bohemian Association. 
 
Ben is survived by a sister, Marion Andersen of Mason City, nieces, Susan Steenblock (Leslie) of Mason City, and Paula Klemesrud (Wendell) of Cedar Springs, Michigan, nephews, Marc Andersen of Clear Lake and Brian Andersen of Mason City, 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces, 2 great great nieces.
 
Ben was preceded in death by his parents.
