Bernadine Ann Baker, 81, of Mason City, IA and formerly of Eagle Grove, IA, died Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday September 24, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue Mason City with Rev. Kent A. Mechler, Chaplain – Good Shepherd Health Center officiating. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street S.E., Mason City, IA 50401. Bernadine was born February 17, 1933, in Eagle Grove, the daughter and only child of Myrtle (Orsland) and Arthur Anderson. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951. Bernadine was united in marriage to George Baker on September 21, 1956. Their 58th wedding anniversary was celebrated a day before her death. Bernadine was a homemaker and raised four children. She loved to sew and add her personal touches to her home and family life. She loved shopping weekends with her daughters and visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love of dogs was second to none. Her caring demeanor will be greatly missed by her family. Bernadine is survived by her husband George, Mason City; her four children: LuAnn Wilcox (Tom) of Lawrence, KS; Kurt Baker (Patti) of Albia, IA; Cheryl Huff (Scot) of Colorado Springs, CO; and David Baker (Patti) of Iowa Falls, IA; Eleven grandchildren: Nick Wilcox, Basehor, KS; Nicole Garber, Lawrence, KS; Jenna Wilcox, Kansas City, KS; Zach Baker, Iowa City, Iowa; Matt Baker, Albia, Iowa; Kyle Huff, Chicago, IL; Blair Davis, Colorado Springs, CO; Breck Baker, Overland Park, KS; Emily, Ellie and Erica Baker, Iowa Falls, IA; Six great grandchildren: Colton and Ava Wilcox, Basehor, KS; Jaxon Davis, Colorado Springs, CO; Owen, Drew and Will Garber, Lawrence, KS. Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved pets, Sheba, Booboo and Katie. The Baker family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to our special friends, Teri Searle and Pat Wright for all that you have done for us. You both have touched our hearts greatly. We would like to also thank the staff at the Good Shepard Care Center for the loving care she received. The nursing staff would often go beyond the call of duty to help our mother feel loved and cared for. Many thanks to the staff at North Iowa Hospice for helping us all transition our beloved mother to heaven.
