Betty Jane Kalvig, 87, of Mason City, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Larry Day of Victory in Christ Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Betty Jane Kalvig memorial fund. Betty Jane Lynch was born April 28, 1927 in Eau Claire, WI to Claude and Viola (Lee) Lynch. They moved to Mason City and Betty attended school and graduated from Mason City High School. She married David Kalvig on June 12, 1948 and they spent 60 years in the home that they built together. They also spent many years in Red Wing, MN on the Mississippi River enjoying fishing and friends. She was a much loved Avon Lady for over 40 years in Mason City. Her friends were her treasures. Betty is survived by her son, Joseph (Vicki) Kalvig, Nora Springs, IA; grandchildren: Amy (Russ) Johnson of Osage; Erin (Brian) Neeley of St. Ansgar; Jody (Jason) Hackbart of Grafton; David Kalvig of Rowan ; step-children: John (Darcy) Corley of Polson, MT; Camie Corley of Montana; and Stephanie Condit of Nora Springs, IA; many great-grandchildren; special friends: Bud and Alice Heinold; and her 'sister' Shirley Kalvig. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband David on January 27, 2008; brother, Joe Lynch; brothers-in-law: Merle, Elmer, Raymond, and Carl Kalvig, Gene Weitzel; and sisters-in-law: Rachel, JoAnn & Linda.
