Betty L. Mountain of Mason City, passed from this life on November 21, 2015 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota after a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp - Hospice of North Iowa officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday. A private family inurnment will take place in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Betty Mountain Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Betty was born on November 5, 1939, the daughter of Merrill and Elva Sable Huitt in Perry, Iowa. She graduated from Perry High School in 1958. Betty was united in marriage to Robert Mountain on November 18, 1972 in Perry. Following their marriage the couple relocated to Mason City. While living in Mason City she was employed at AMPI and Allied Purchasing in sales. She also was employed at H&W Transportation, becoming terminal manager until the company went out of business. Betty went on to manage the Super 8 Motel until choosing to take employment part time at the Mason City Clinic. This turned into full time work and she worked there the last 10 years. Betty was known for her impeccable work habits in always getting the job done.

Betty thoroughly enjoyed her home and decorated for each season inside and spent her summers outdoors with flowers and yard work. She so appreciated the neighbors who were always there to help her with snow removal while Bob was gone on his job. Betty also enjoyed the time spent with her family and loved the various vacations and the annual trips to Florida and shopping with her only sister.

Betty was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed making new friends and serving as President as well as an officer in other capacities. She thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and community service in which the sorority was involved.

Betty is survived by her husband Robert; sons, Bret and friend Rhonda of Glasgow, Missouri and Bart of Largo, Florida; grandchildren Allison of Palm Harbor, Florida, Tyler of St. Petersburg, Florida and Tara of Knoxville, Tennessee; brothers Kenneth (Norine) Huitt of Hickory, North Carolina, Larry (Sandy) Huitt of Casa Grande, Arizona, Gary (Surella) Huitt of Perry, Iowa and sister Barbara (John) Kastner of Yale, Iowa. She is also survived by 5 brothers-in-law, Jerry (Marsha) Mountain of Brooklyn Park, MN, John (Donna) Mountain of Waterloo, IA, Tom (Judy) Mountain of Mankato, MN, Dave (Bev) Mountain of Eau Claire, WI, and Bill (Diane) Mountain of Eagle Lake, MN; and 3 sisters-in-law, Rita (Brad) Marks of Owatonna, MN, Patty (Mike) Larue of Maple Grove, MN, and Janet (Jay) Kienholz of Vernon Center, MN, as well as many nieces and nephews.
