Beverly J. Zirbel, 77, of Mason City, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. She fought a courageous 3 year battle against cancer. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Praise Community Church, 11 2nd Street N.W., with Pastor Jeff Dahlin officiating. She wasn’t where she had been. She wasn’t where she was going…but she was on her way. Bev was born October 13, 1935, to William F. and Louise (Kuhl) Roth. She was one of 4 children born and raised in Mason City, the only girl among 3 brothers. Grandma Louise battled cancer for 13 years, losing her battle when Bev was 18. As newlyweds, Bev and Fred welcomed her younger brother Ron into their home, until he entered the Navy. Three children were born over the next 9 years. Rebecca Louise on August 26, 1954, Gregory Fred on November 1, 1956, and Kurt Douglas on May 19, 1962. Through the year’s life, family, friends, work and sporting events kept our family busy until grandkids came along. Family was always an integral part of Bev’s life, but she became a devoted grandmother to Joshua, Zach, Dakota, Luka, Zane, Zeek, Nazareth, Tracy and Zarrie. Beverly touched many lives through the years and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her spouse of 59 years: Fred H. Zirbel of Mason City; 1 daughter: Rebecca (Dennis) Kindschuh of Nora Springs, IA and Henderson, NV; 2 sons: Greg (Sharon) Zirbel of Clear Lake, IA, and Kurt (Renee) Zirbel of Mason City; 2 brothers: Virgil (Betty) Roth of Mason City, and Ron (Kathy) Roth of Riverside, CA; sisters-in-law: Rachel Wood, Margaret (James) Marinos, and Doreen (Don) Hanson; brothers-in-law: Glen Zirbel, Don (Margee) Zirbel, Paul (Cathy) Zirbel, David (Melanie) Zirbel, and Mark Zirbel – scattered across the United States; her grandchildren: Josh (Dusty) Johnson, Zach Zirbel, Dakota Zirbel, Luka(Ryan) Pelz, Zane Zirbel, Zeek Zirbel, Nazareth Zirbel, Tracy (Rob) Teeter, and Zarrie Solum; her great grandchildren: Dustin, Destiny, Bayne, Grey, Daelen, Denver, Megan, Mason, Madison, and Merin. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who were all special in her eyes. Preceding her in death were her parents: William F. Roth and Louise Anna-Anna Roth; 1 brother: Jerry Roth; sister-in-law: Barb Roth; and 2 grandsons: Wolfgang and Lupus Zirbel. They are together now and watching down upon us. Special thanks to Dr. Aaron Mansfield, all of the doctors, nurses, staff, and health care personnel for helping Beverly through her treatments and surgeries at Mayo Clinic – Rochester, MN and in Albert Lea, MN. To the staff and caring people at Muse Hospice of North Iowa for their support through this difficult time. Also the loving support of Jeff Dahlin and the congregation of Praise Community Church for prayer, food, and friendship. We are grateful to all of Mom’s friends and neighbors whom all continued to reach out to our family with their love and generosity. Thank you all. In her final hours my Dad whispered to Mom, “We will be together again, young, barefoot, and hand in hand walking on the beach. I found you once and I’ll find you again.” Prepare a place for us Mom, we love you and we will be together again.
