Beverly Jean Murphy

Beverly Jean Murphy, 85, of Mason City, IA, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 15, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Paul Martin of Riverside Friends Church officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Beverly Murphy memorial fund in care of the family.

Beverly was born May 29, 1932, in Mason City, the daughter of George and Florence (Nessett) Lamb and Carl Waddell. On November 29, 1969, she married Loren Murphy in Mason City. She was a homemaker. Bev loved going to rummage sales and hitting the store clearance racks. She loved a good bargain. Bev really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and would buy them a Mason City pool membership each year. She also enjoyed animals and taking care of her cats and dogs. Bev was always there to listen and help out when she could for all of her family.

Bev is survived by 7 children: Linda Westendorf, Diana Hampton, Joe Fransen and wife Donna, Mike Fransen, Loree Mitchell, Lisa Schaer, Lowell Murphy and wife Kathy – all of Mason City. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 1 son: Jim Fransen; daughter-in-law: Nancy Fransen; son-in-law: Don Westendorf; 5 grandchildren: Tim Smith, Kristie Fransen, Cody Fransen, Donny Westendorf and Randy Tuttle; and 2 step-sons: Chuck Murphy and Jerry Murphy.
