Beverly J. Patterson

July 15, 1939 — September 14, 2024

Mason City

Beverly Joyce Patterson, of Mason City, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14th after a long and fulfilling life. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania, with Rev. Shane Philpott officiating. Services will be livestreamed on Major Erickson’s Facebook page.

She was a kind and generous woman with a strong faith and deep love for her family and friends. Adored by most everyone she met, she was quick to make you feel at ease with a warm and welcoming smile, and even quicker to share her love for Jesus.

Born July 15th, 1939, in Columbus, GA to Rev. Albert L Williams and Mable Catherine (Schultz), Beverly grew up in a close-knit, healthy sized family with six siblings, all of whom have passed, except her beloved, youngest sister, Martha. As a preacher's kid, she was raised to know and love the Lord and was instilled with an uncompromising faith in Jesus Christ. She lived her life always giving God credit and thanks for every good thing, and trusting in Him to help her through every bad thing. It is this same simple, yet profound, faith that she handed down to her two children, Jody and Valerie. She also made a point to share her faith with anyone who would listen, while consistently extending an offer to pray with everyone.

At age 75, Beverly retired from The Department of the Army with 32 years of service, working in both Fort Benning, GA and Rock Island, IL. She took great pride in her work, and went to great lengths to make her workplace feel more like a family unit rather than just a group of coworkers, continuing those relationships for many years after she retired. Family was always of utmost importance to Beverly. With her children, grandchildren, and siblings scattered over several states, she would consistently travel long distances by herself to keep close contact. She always made herself available to help at a moment’s notice and never turned down an invitation to visit. No one could ever doubt or question her love and commitment to her family. Soon after her retirement, she moved to Mason City to be closer to her daughter's family, and eventually came to reside at Good Shepherd Care Center, where she made countless new friendships. Favored by many of the staff and residents for her sweet, Southern charm and genuine care and concern for others, she quickly found herself immersed in an entirely new family. It was here, amongst many who loved and adored her that she spent her last days.

Beverly is survived by her two children, seven grandchildren, one sister and many nieces and nephews. Her son, Jody Patterson of Mount Pleasant, SC., his wife, Sandi (Rybcinski) and their daughters, Erin, Brianna and Micaela (husband, Andrew Douglas); Her daughter, Valerie (Patterson) Beemer of Mason City, IA, her husband, Aaron and their sons, Tyler (wife, Shara (Hagner)) and Sean. Her sister, Martha (Williams) Dupriest (husband, Reginald) of Hamilton, GA.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers: Raymond, Albert, and Charlie; her sisters, Billy Ann Ward and Faye Tadley; and her granddaughter, Corrine Patterson.
