Boyd C. Suby

Boyd C. Suby, 84, of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2016, with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with The Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt of Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown officiating. Inurnment will be in Brush Point Cemetery in Fertile, IA at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Boyd Suby memorial fund in care of the family.

Boyd was born October 13, 1931, in rural Fertile, IA, the son of Henry R. and Iva (Kirk) Suby. He attended school in Fertile. On September 28, 1956, he married Delores E. Borchardt in Grafton, IA. In 1957, the couple moved to Fertile and later moved to Mason City in 1986. He worked for Martin Marietta for many years. Boyd enjoyed spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Boyd was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Boyd is survived by 3 daughters: Cindy Bidne and husband Kevin of Fertile, Jean Leraaen of Mason City, and Joan Snyder and husband Jeff of Meservey, IA; five grandchildren: Katelyn, Tyler, John, Adam, and Katie; 2 brothers: Leon Suby and wife Shirley of Mason City and Allen Suby and wife Nadine of Ankeny, IA; 2 sisters: Phyllis Clausen of Mason City and Linda O’Neal Price and husband Tom of Dewey, Arizona; two brothers-in-law: Galen Borchardt of Forest City, IA and Glendon Borchardt of Osage, IA; and special friend: Renabelle Kelly of Chapin, IA. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2008; two daughters: Peggy Sue Suby and Rochelle Suby; 2 brothers : Robert(Buck) Suby and his wife Betty and Roger(Rudy) Suby and wife Colleen; 1 sister: Helen Sparby and husband Alvin; 2 brothers-in-law: Jack O’Neal and Bill Clausen; and sister-in-law: Melba Borchardt.
