MASON CITY: Bruce W. Angell, 87, of Mason City, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 23, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 – 14th Street NW with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the Bruce W. Angell Memorial Fund.
Bruce was born May 14, 1928 in Mason City the son of William and Eva (Bruce) Angell. He attended schools in Mason City where he would later obtain his GED. Bruce served in the Merchant Marines from 1944-1945. He then served in the US Navy, South Pacific, receiving his honorable discharge in 1948. He returned to Mason City and married Myrna M. DeWitt at Grace Evangelical Church, Mason City. They were married 65 years. Bruce worked for George Platts Construction a short time then worked as a Superintendent for Henkel Construction Company for 40 years. He retired in 1990. Bruce was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Bruce is survived by 2 sons, Gregory B. (Sally) Angell of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Ronald A. (Dawn) Angell of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Kim (Andy) Sindelar of Omaha, Nebraska, Kelly Angell of Atlanta, Georgia, Lauren (Corbin) Miller of Austin, Texas, Brittany (Brian) Smith of Des Moines and Matthew Angell of West Des Moines; great grandchildren, Natalie, Jack and Caitlin.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrna in 2014; 4 brothers, Virgil, Robert, Eugene and Francis; 1 sister, Phyllis.
