Calvin W. Anderson

Calvin W. Anderson, 95, of Mason City, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N Pennsylvania Ave with Pastor Daniel Hanson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family of Calvin Anderson.   

Calvin Wayne Anderson was born in Mason City on January 3, 1929, to parents Henry and Tina (Zorn) Anderson. Calvin graduated from Mason City High School in 1947. He also attended NIACC. He joined the United States Army in November of 1950. He was honorably discharged in August of 1952. In the same month he was united in marriage to Virginia Peterson in Mason City. Following his time in the Army, Calvin began working for Mason City Mill Works and did so until 1961. Calvin then joined the Mason City Police Department and served the Mason City community for 22 years.

Calvin had a love for carpentry in his spare time, building cabinets and picture frames. He enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO with Virginia to see country shows.   

Calvin is survived by his children, Donna Kaster, Susan (Randy) Johnson, Carol (Robert) Greimann, Doug (Annette) Anderson; 6 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; parents; daughter, Charlotte Anderson; siblings, Flora, Marge and Henry; and son-in-law, Allen Kaster.
