Mason City Retired Master Sgt. Carl Garth Jarosh, 67, of Mason City died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his home. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service including military rites will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carls name to the Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 S. Birch Drive.\r\n
Carl was born on June 20, 1942, in Mason City, along with his twin brother, Charles, to Ignatius and Ruth (Veech) Jarosh. Carl graduated from Mason City High School in 1961, and immediately began what was a distinguished military career with the United States Air Force. Carl proudly served his country for more than 25 years in locations throughout the world, including in the Vietnam War, before retiring in 1986. After his retirement, Carl worked for the Northern Trails Area Education Agency until retiring in 2004.\r\n
Carl loved games and puzzles, NASCAR, and sports. More than anything, Carl loved his sons and grandsons. \r\n
Carl is survived by his sons Robert Carl Jarosh and wife Cathy of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Christopher Joseph Jarosh and wife Ange of Mason City; grandsons Justice Jarosh of Iowa City and Alexander Jarosh of Cheyenne, Wyoming; beloved sister Sylvia Colman and her husband Thomas, of Mason City; his sister-in-law Dianne Jarosh of Mason City; and his cousins, nephews, and niece.\r\n
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
