Carolee Joice Mejia

Carolee Mejia, 79, of Mason City, IA, died Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 5th Street SE, with Rev. Neil Manternach officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday February 19, 2018 at Major Erickson Funeral Home 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a vigil service taking place at 5:30 PM.

Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carolee was born in Mason City Iowa on February 28, 1938 by loving parents Bural H. Eppens and Vivian (Barr) Eppens. She was married to Ray Mejia on July 25, 1956, they were married for 33 years and had five beautiful children together. She attended school in Mason City and achieved her GED later in life as it was very important to her. Carolee worked as a nurse aide for 20 years and then at Minnesota Rubber from where she retired after 24 loyal years of service. Family and friends were her love and joy. She loved to dance and do many crafts such as crocheting and ceramics. She enjoyed her bingo friends, bowling league, and winning at pool and many other games. Carolee had a lifelong love affair with shopping. She loved being around people and was very passionate for the many dogs she took care of. Holidays were also very important to Carolee, she cherished the time with her family at Christmas and birthdays. We want to thank the many family and friends for all their love and support and the staff at Good Shepherd for taking such great care of Carolee. You will be forever loved and remembered. Carolee is survived by her children: Mona (Tony) Servantez, Lisa (Randy Dunkin) Sanchez, Michael (Angel) Mejia, Jason (Toni) Mejia; siblings: Duane Eppens, Marlene Tvedt, Diane Sanchez; grandchildren: Amber (Ryan) Vandermark, Nolan Servantez, Shane Mejia, Alex (Roxanne) Mejia, Mason Mejia, Jordan Mejia, Joshua Mejia, Autumn Mejia, Justin Mejia, Damian Sanchez, Charlie Wheeler. Great grandchildren: Trystan, Cody, Cale, Ryker, Aurora, Winter, Luna and Riley.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Bural and Vivian Eppens; son: Randy Mejia; brother: Dennis Eppens.
