Carolyn Ann Hoefer, 70, of Mason City, IA, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Epiphany Parish St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 5th Street SE, with Rev. Neil Manternach officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Inurnment will take place in Seward Cemetery in Seward, NE at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Carolyn Hoefer memorial fund in care of the family.
Carolyn was born June 29, 1946, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Elwin G. and Agnes (Velba) Everitt. She graduated from Seward High School in 1964, and continued her education at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA, graduating in 1988. Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles J. Hoefer on March 5, 1986. She worked as a CPA. Carolyn enjoyed bowling and quilting. She was a member of Epiphany Parish, Iowa Society of CPA, and American Institute of CPA.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 30 years: Charles Hoefer of Mason City; daughter: Joyce E. Jicka of Santa Monica, CA; brother: Patrick Everitt and wife Beth of Caledonia, IL; and sister: Delores Hafer and husband Gary of Seward, NE. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
