Carroll A. Halseth, 82, of Mason City, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday (March 5, 2009) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Steve Palo officiating. Interment will be held Friday in Union Cemetery in Maplewood, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Carroll A. Halseth was born April 1, 1926 in Rutland, South Dakota the son of Alvin and Christine (Espeland) Halseth. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII on the Aircraft Carrier USS Bunker Hill; he was honorably discharged. He was married to Barbara J. Anderson August 15, 1949 in St. Paul, MN. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 36 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a proud and active member of the Sons of Norway and also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City where he served as a Sunday school teacher and usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Halseth of Mason City; children, Thomas L. Halseth and wife Sandra of Stevens Point, WI, Steven C. Halseth and wife In Suk of Manassas, VA, Jeffrey A. Halseth of Ham Lake, MN, Patricia J. Leonard and husband Richard W. of Springfield, VA, and Peter E. Halseth and wife Chong Hui of South Korea; grandchildren, Erik, Sonya, Erin, Kelley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
