MASON CITY: Charles H. Lee, 82, of Mason City, died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Per his request, his body will be cremated and a private family service has been scheduled. Memorials may be given to the Charles H. Lee Memorial Fund. Charles was born February 22, 1933 in Danbury, Iowa the son of Charles 'Hoy' and Charlotte (Henry) Lee. He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1951 and attended Drake University for 1 year where he was also a member of the basketball team. In 1952, he enlisted in the service and served in the US Navy attached to the Marine Corps as a Corpsman. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Charles worked for First State Bank in Mapleton for many years then for Heritage Bank in Lytton, Iowa. He retired from banking in 1998. He moved to Mason City in 2008. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid joke teller. Charles is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son; Karen (Ben) Hall of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rhonda (Scott) Swenson of Mason City, Stuart (Delna) Lee of Sioux City and Nancy (Craig) Fink of Ames; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Bryce (Rose) Lee of Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annabelle Borg and brother-in-law, Rev. Jess Borg.
