Charliene S. Sissel, 63 of Mason City died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at her home. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 302 ? 5th Street S.E., with Rev. Michael Podhajsky officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM ? 8:00 PM with a Scriptural Wake Service held at 7:30 PM. Charliene S. Boyd was born February 2, 1941 the daughter of Scott and Goldie (Bowen) Boyd in La Plata, Missouri. She attended school in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School. Charliene was united in marriage to Harold J. Sissel on April 16, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa. While married to Harold the lived in Ottumwa, LeMars, Mason City, Harlan and later returned to Mason City. Charliene and Harold were later divorced. Charliene would spend as much time as possible with children; anyone around her knew she loved children. She was a babysitter for many families in the Mason City area. Charliene always kept a special place in her heart for all of the children she cared for. She was a former charter member of the Albia Road Baptist Church and the Eastern Star of Ottumwa. Charliene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday School, and a member of the former St. Jude Circle. Charliene loved flower gardens, particularly snap dragons and petunias. Those left to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Cynthia ?Cindi? Sissel of Mason City; sisters, Mary Ann Sewll and husband Bill of Kansas City, Missouri and Donna Gould and husband Lloyd of Mason City; brother, James ?Jimmy? Robert Boyd and wife Marilyn of Grapevine, Texas and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and dear friends the Lanceys of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents Scot and Goldie Boyd.
