Charlotte S. Snell

MESA, ARIZONA: Charlotte S. Snell, 90, of Mesa, Arizona formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Mesa. Charlotte has been cremated as per her wishes. There will be a private family committal service at a later date at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Mason City or Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona. Charlotte was born June 10, 1921 in Mason City, Iowa the youngest daughter of Willis A. and Stella Clark Storer. After graduating from Mason City High School in 1939 and attending one year at Mason City Junior College, she married Lein E. Snell August 25, 1940. Lein passed away in 1999. Charlotte was a stay-at-home mother until her children left for college and then she joined her husband in operating Snell Services, Inc. She retired in 1984. She was past president of the Pilot Club in Mason City and served as secretary on the Mental Health Center Board of Directors for many years. In the 1950’s she and her sister, Wini, did singing radio commercials for KSMN radio in Mason City. Coming from a musical family, she was a talented violinist, a good piano and organ player as well as a very good singer. Charlotte was a wonderful, caring person and took care of her parents, her husband, and a special niece until their deaths. Lein and Charlotte never spent a holiday meal without inviting people to join them that had nowhere to go. There was always a houseful. Charlotte is survived by her son, Lee and wife Mary Ellen Snell of Venice, Florida; daughter, Joan and husband Doug Carnall of Mesa, Arizona; grandsons, Loren Snell and his family of Cedar Rapids and Andrew Snell and his family of Oxford, Nebraska will definitely miss their “Grandma Goodwitch”. There are 5 Great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lein; 4 sisters and 1 brother; a very special niece, Mary Colby. RIP, mother, you made our lives so full and rich with love. You are truly a lady.
