Chrisanne Aldis (Brown) Peterson, 73, of Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Private services for the family will be held at a later date. Per Chrisanne’s request, her body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to North Iowa Area Community College Foundation, Education Foundation of Mason City Public Schools, IOOF Home, or Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.
Chrisanne was born on May 7, 1951, in Mason City, Iowa, to parents Mariestelle M. and Donald W. Brown. Chrisanne graduated from Mason City High School in 1969.
After graduation, Chrisanne went on to North Iowa Area Community College, where she received her AA, in 1971. Chrisanne then attended the University of Northern Iowa where she received her BA, graduating in 1973.
Chrisanne was united in marriage to Paul R. Peterson on June 8, 1974, at First United Methodist Church in Mason City, Iowa. To this union, the couple were blessed with one daughter, Sethanne.
Chrisanne taught for 39 years at Mason City School District, Clear Lake School District, and Marshalltown School District. She was a member of the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association, Mason City Education Association. In her free time, Chrisanne enjoyed spending time with family in Hawaii, traveling, and reading. Chrisanne was an amazing wife, mother, teacher, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Chrisanne is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Paul Peterson, of Mason City, Iowa; her daughter, Sethanne DeGabriele, son-in-law Bryan DeGabriele, and grandson Drew DeGabriele, all of Mason City, Iowa; aunt and uncle, Jane and Dick Barnette, of Ko Olina, Hawaii; and cousins, Blaise, Lil, and Bond Barnette, of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mariestelle (Miller) and Donald Brown; maternal grandparents, Velma (Salzburg) and Gordon Miller; and paternal grandparents, John and Bessie (Snedden) Brown.
