Cindy K. Shinn

Cindy K. Shinn, 58, of Mason City, IA, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Jeff Dahlin of Praise Community Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Cindy Shinn memorial fund in care of the family.

Cindy was born April 27, 1957, in Mason City, the daughter of Kenneth and Nevelyn (Mathews) Hendrickson. She attended Mason City public schools. On November 2, 1985, Cindy married David A. Shinn in Mason City. For the past 6 years, Cindy truly loved working at Kentucky Ridge and taking care of the residents. She enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed family gatherings, BBQ’s, going out to eat, taking the car out for a nice drive, taking care of her parrot “Petrie” and enjoying the sunshine at the lake while working on her tan.

Cindy is survived by 4 children: Dena Tyler and husband Brad of Mason City, Chad Wicks and special friend April Platts of Mason City, Skyler Shinn and special friend Mark Tiedemann of Mason City, and Corey Shinn of Mason City; 4 grandchildren: Brandon Tyler and special friend Chelsea True, Michael Tyler and special friend Nicole Blum, Dylan Tyler and special friend Jordan Eliason, and Uriah Wicks; great grandchildren: Mia and Ryleigh, and 2 on the way: Paisley and Breckon; 7 siblings: Judy Dittberner of Mason City, Nancy Worley and husband Ron of Mason City, Kenneth Hendrickson and wife Cindy of Moreno Valley, CA, Gary Hendrickson and wife Nancy of Mason City, Debra Helmer and husband Lonnie of Mason City, Bob Hendrickson and wife Kathy of Mason City, and Kevin Hendrickson and wife Reneé of Mason City; her nieces and nephews: Julie Berding, Jeffrey Fistler, Jamie Daman, Scott Hendrickson, Shelby Hendrickson, Elicia Jones, Justin Hendrickson, Jordan Hendrickson, Candace Fournier, Jessica Poppelreiter, Jason Hendrickson and Kayla Hendrickson. She is also survived by many great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2003; niece: Christie Huebner; brother-in-law: Lee Dittberner; and sister-in-law: Cheryl Shinn.
