Clarence D. Hobbs

August 21, 1922 — April 29, 2008

MASON CITY:  Clarence D. Hobbs, 85, of Mason City, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Heritage Care Center. To honor his request, there will be no services.  His wish was to be cremated.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Clarence Hobbs.
 
Clarence was born August 21, 1922 in Rudd, IA, the son of Clarence and Florence (Rye) Hobbs.   He served in the United States Army Air Force from 1943 - 1946.  On September 29, 1946, he married Mary Welsh in Mason City.  He worked in the grain dryer bin business doing sales and service. Clarence loved fishing, and was known to fish anywhere from Canada to Florida.  He also enjoyed bowling, and was known for never turning down a piece of chocolate.  Clarence was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Elks. 
 
 
Clarence is survived by his wife Mary; his son:  Dennis Hobbs and wife Diana; and his daughter:  Sue Johnson; grandchildren:  Debbie Overland and her husband Brian, Brian Isch, B. Jay Johnson, Mindy Hanson and husband Tim, and Steven Hobbs and wife Rachelle.  He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents;  brother:  Gordon Hobbs and sister:  Carol Brogmus.

Memorials:
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Clarence Hobbs.
