Cletus C. Hepp

Cletus C. Hepp, 85, of 631 6th Court SE, died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the IOOF Home. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, 302 5th St. SE with Rev. Harry Koelker officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Memorials may be given to the Cletus C. Hepp Memorial Fund. Cletus was born October 12, 1919 in rural Estherville, Iowa the son of Frederick and Alice (Greehy) Hepp. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1939. Cletus served with the US Army in the European Theatre during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Cletus moved to Mason City in 1946 and married Anna Mae Dougherty October 15, 1946 in Dougherty, Iowa. He graduated from Hamilton Business College in 1947. Cletus served as the auditor and city clerk in Mason City for many years. In 1972, the Hepp?s moved to Ocala, Florida where Cleuts served as the finance director for the city of Ocala. While in Ocala, Cletus furthered his education by taking courses at Florida Atlantic University. He retired in 1982 and returned to Mason City in 1983. Cletus was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, served on the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery Board, was a life member of the V.F.W. and the Disabled American Veterans. Cletus was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus where he also served as past recording secretary and financial secretary. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and volunteering at church. Cletus is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Hepp of Mason City; daughter, Barbara Sasseen and husband Keith of Ottumwa; son, Patrick J. Hepp and wife Janet of Arvada, Colorado; daughter, Margaret Crawford of Mason City; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Cletus was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Sylvester and sister, Mary Higgins.
