Constance 'Connie' Marie Krueger, 83, of Mason City, IA, died Friday, February 06, 2015, at the IOOF Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Sean McRoberts of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Per her wishes, her body will be donated to the University of Iowa following the service. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Connie Krueger memorial fund in care of the family. Constance Marie Ellison was born April 13, 1931, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Elmer T. and Marie (Pletka) Ellison. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1949. On September 24, 1951, she married Dale A. Krueger in Mason City. Connie worked for AT&T for many years before becoming employed with US West. As the telephone company evolved, Connie became privy to computers and was on the cutting edge of technology. Eventually she was transferred to Des Moines where she worked in the Fraud Department as a Toll Call Investigator for the last 5 years until Connie retired. She enjoyed gardening, canning/freezing food, keeping her mind sharp with cross word puzzles and staying current on local and world events. She was an avid dog lover. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pioneers and the Rebecca’s (lifelong). She was also a Gold Star Widow. Using letters and correspondence she received from her husband during the war, Connie wrote a book entitled “To Princess from Krueg” and became a published author in 2002. She was contacted by the Library of Congress requesting a copy of her original letters for real time historical records of the Korean War. The book is also featured and available for purchase at the USS Pine Island Museum in New York. Connie is survived by 2 sons: Dale Warren Krueger of Green Oaks, IL and Alan Dean Krueger of Mason City; 3 grandchildren: Jacob, Rachel and Aron Krueger; 1 brother: Elmer Tobias Ellison of Atlanta, GA; and her close friend: Francis Randall and husband Ray of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; 2 sisters: Marilyn Sherwood and Phyllis Ellison; and a nephew: Tim Welty.
