Dale R. Groth, 73, of 3435 Brandywine Road, died Tuesday (October 21, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Donald Simmonds officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Dale R. Groth Memorial Fund. Dale was born January 20, 1930 in Mason City the son of Oscar and Alice (Gullard) Groth. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1948 then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Dale married Nancy Wilson September 12, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Dale was self-employed as a floor-covering contractor for many years. Following retirement he worked part-time for Diamond Vogel. Dale was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge, North Iowa Classic Car Club and enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Dale is survived by a daughter; Lori Tierney and husband Tom of Minnetonka, MN, son; Rick Groth and wife Sharon of Mason City, grandchildren; Aron, Christopher, Megan and Kelsie, brothers; Raymond Groth and wife Jean of Mason City, Paul Groth and wife Mary of Ellendale, MN, brother-in-law; Melvin Wilson Jr. of Mason City, nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nancy in 1999.
