Nora Springs: Dan D. Duray, 78, of Nora Springs, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 P.M, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, with Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with a Scriptural Wake service at 3:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dan D. Duray Memorial Fund in care of the family.
Daniel David Duray was born October 25, 1932 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of William and Dorothy (Schultz) Duray. Dan was the oldest of 9 children; Betty, Bill, Gene, Patsy, Jerry, Mary, Johnny and Larry. Dan married Elaine Gunderson and together they had 6 children; Debbie, Barb, Jean, Alan, Tom and Penny. They later divorced. Dan married Sharon Rozeski and they had one daughter together, April. Sharon had 4 daughters from a previous marriage; Sandy, Kathy, Katy, and Shelly and brought them to the family. Sharon died after suffering from cancer. Dan married Annette Quam, and she had 2 daughters from a previous marriage; Angela and Deb and they too were added to the family.
Dan was very active in every community he ever lived where he managed or owned grocery stores. He made friendships and acquaintances where ever he went; he was a people person through and through. Dan was very proud of his career and the accomplishments and awards that he won. He loved the time he spent with his family and friends, whether he was fishing, golfing, or playing cards. Dan loved decorating his home and yard for all holidays for all to enjoy. Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and a great wit about him, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dan is survived by his wife, Annette; children, Debbie (Dennis) Bauer, Barb (John) Keene, Jean (Rick)Isle, Alan (Karen) Duray, Tom Duray, Penny (Eric) Ellingson, April (Nate) Welch; Sandy (Craig) Anderson, Katy (Jim) Latimer, Kathy (Andy) Johnson, Shelly (David) Battenberg, Angela (Ric) Heins and Deb (Tom) Nash; grandchildren, Angela (Greg) Erickson, Adrian (Amanda) Bauer, Adam (Stephanie) Bauer, Jeremy (Ann) Platson, Tonya (Jamey) Franklin, Ryan (Jess) Platson, Nick (Amy) Platson, Ben Isle, Caleb Isle, Zack Isle, Aric Isle, Marie (Joe) Harkner, Robyn Duray, Amber (Cody) Duray, Alyssa Duray, Christopher Duray, Cory Duray, Finley Welch, Morgan Battenberg, Emmet Battenberg, James (Britanny) Johnson, Ashley Johnson, AJ (Greta) Johnson, Emily Anderson, Nick Anderson, Christopher Heins, Susan Heins, Dylan Nash and Alyssa Nash; great- grandchildren, Peyton Erickson, Makenna Erickson, Jordan Bauer, Ashton Bauer, Sam Platson, Jack Platson, Max Platson, Tyler Seebeck, Daden Franklin, Delaney Franklin, Ethan Platson, Christopher Rivard, Asia Murphy, Dylan Murphy, Jordan Harkner, Megan Harkner, Ava Pattschull, Shawn Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Amalia Johnson; brother and sisters, Bill Duray, Jerry Duray, Larry Duray, Mary Burger, Patsy Ruzicka and Betty Lien; he is also survived by many other family members, nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Gene and other loved ones who were there to greet him as he saw the face of Jesus and entered into heaven.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Dan D. Duray Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Cemetery:
