Darlene M. Hansen

Darlene M. Hansen, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by family at her home. Per Darlene’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family of Darlene Hansen.

Darlene was born to parents Stephen and Winona (Brooks) Kowny in September of 1937, in Mason City. On April 8, 1956, Darlene married James R. Hansen in Mason City. Together they raised two daughters and two sons. Darlene was a devoted farm wife for 59 years, a loving mother, and a great friend. She will be deeply missed.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Terry Hansen and his wife Rita, Martin Hansen and his wife Gail, daughters, Barbara Coltrain and her husband Gary, and Connie Wendorf, and 23 grandchildren. 

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2015; her parents, a grandson, Gage Coltrain; and brother, Stephen “Pete” (Hilda) Kowny.
