Mason City, Iowa David C. Weaver, age 65, of Mason City, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, while working at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa (West Campus Textile Services). Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania, with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to David Weaver memorial fund in care of the family.
David Weaver was born June 3, 1944, the son of Vernon Crandall and Eunice (Howland) Weaver in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated High School in Cedar Rapids. Dave married Janice Leaman in 1968 in Cedar Rapids. To this union, they had twin daughters: Michelle and Melissa and one son: Robert. Over the years, Dave worked for Rockwell International, Armour Meat Packing, Municipal Refuse, Alexander Manufacturing, and recently Mercy Medical Center North Iowa (West Campus) for the last 15 years. Dave was a Mopar enthusiast. He always looked forward to Mopar events, such as races, car swaps, car shows, and Mopar Nationals. He was a member of the Mopar Car Club. Dave also enjoyed playing cards.
David is survived by his wife of 41 years: Janice Jan Weaver of Mason City; his children: Lauri Weaver of Colorado, Linda Dettbarn and husband Ken of Elkader, IA, Michelle Evans of San Marcos, CA, Melissa Ralston of Fertile, IA and Robert Weaver of Mason City; his mother: Eunice Jacobs of Marion, IA; four grandchildren: Sean and Nicholas Dettbarn & Seth and Katie Ralston; two brothers: John Weaver and wife Judy of Marion, and Rick Weaver and wife Cindy of St. Peters, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: Vernon Crandall Weaver; his stepmother: Darlene Weaver and his stepfather: Emmett Bud Jacobs; his mother and father-in-law: Robert and Marlys Leaman.
