David K. Roberts

David Kendrick Roberts, 67, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa, with his family by his side. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kenneth Gehling, Chaplain, Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com. David was born January 5, 1945, in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of E.K. (Al) and Irene (Muecke) Roberts. He graduated from Charles City Community High School in 1963 and continued his education at Michigan State in East Lansing, MI from 1963 – 1967. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. David married Janet Doore on November 6, 1971, and to this union two children were born – Annette and David. He owned Roberts Clothes of Charm for over 30 years in Mason City. David is survived by his wife of 40 years: Janet Roberts of Mason City; his children: Annette Dawson and husband Don of Indianola, IA, and David K. Roberts III of New York, NY; his mother: Irene Roberts of Mason City; grandchildren: Don and Annie Dawson of Indianola; sister: Susan Stilwell of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law: Joan Blocker and husband Virgil of Dubuque, IA; and brother-in-law: Jim Doore and wife Mary Lou of Toledo, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
