Dean C. Lang

Dean C. Lang, 67 of Mason City died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams Avenue, with the Rev. Jon Seda officiating. A visitation will be held a half hour prior to service time at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Elmwood ? St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Dean C. Lang Memorial Fund. Dean C. Lang was born December 23, 1936 the son of Carl and Laura (Hemann) Lang in Austin, Minnesota. He attended the Holy Family High School in Mason City and then Mason City Junior College. Dean then served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1956 Dean moved to Los Angeles, California and began his work as a set decorator. He worked for CBS Studio Stage 10 for 28 years. While at the CBS Studios Dean worked for Mary Tyler Moore as the set decorator for the Mary Tyler Moore Show. He was a member of the Local #4727 and Local #44 ? I.A.T.S.E. While in California, Dean enjoyed Latin American Music and dancing at the Hollywood Paladium. Following his retirement from CBS Studio 10, he moved back to Mason City. Dean was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed playing the harmonica and the drums. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Eric Lang of Anamosa, Iowa; step-children, Diana Lang and Robin Lang both of California, and Jason Williams of North Carolina; his brother, Eugene Lang and wife Betty of Texas, Duane Lang and wife Helen of Marshaltown, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Laura Lang, and one sister, Theresa Brierly. Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
