Debra J. Grouette

Debra J. Grouette, 58, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, June 20, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kevin Jones of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Debra Grouette memorial fund in care of the family.

Debra was born December 21, 1957, in Wells, MN, the daughter of Robert J. and Sedonna E. (Fischer) McFarland. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1976. On June 12, 1976, Debra married Bill Grouette Sr. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple later divorced. Debra enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, collecting unicorns, using her computer and having her nails painted by her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and 70’s Golden Girls Club.

Debra is survived by her father: Robert J. McFarland of Mason City; 3 sons: John Grouette, Bill Grouette Jr. (Sammi Jo Crosser), and Jared Grouette and fiancée Amanda Seely – all of Mason City; 7 grandchildren: Joseph, Cassandra, Alexandra, Hallee, Kaylee, Billie Jo and Demetirus; 1 brother: Carlin McFarland and wife Wendy of Mason City; 2 sisters: Darla McFarland of Colorado Springs, CO, and Deanna McFarland (Bob Aguero) of Fond du Lac, WI; and 2 step-brothers: Marlin Severson and wife Judy of Wisconsin and Harlin Severson and wife Nancy of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Sedonna McFarland.
