Delmar Dean Hearns

Hampton, Iowa Delmar Dean Hearn, age 85, of Hampton, Iowa formerly of Dumont, IA, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation; per his wishes he was cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Delmar Dean Hearn memorial fund in care of the family.

Delmar was born on April 10, 1924 to Seamey and Leola Hearn. He was raised and went to school in the Dumont area. He was married to Margaret Nielsen on May 4, 1946. Delmar enjoyed visiting with family and friends, story telling, hunting, fishing, visiting the casino, and gardening. Delmar had a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren. Delmar trucked most of his life, and he most enjoyed working on the farm in the Dumont area. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret; two children, Verle (Bonnie) Hearn of Olathe, KS, and Diane (Doug) Card of Hampton, IA; five grandchildren, Janene (Jason) Nordin of St. Joseph, MI, Kim (Ken) Graham of Tokyo, Japan, Matt Hearn and special friend Rosie of Denver, CO, Seth Card and fianc Felicia and Ryan Card; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lucas, and Justin Nordin, Marley and Will Graham, and Alexa Andrews, and Hector and Laney Munoz, and Journey and Nick; one sister, Doris (Harold) Reents and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Verle.
