Mason City ? Dennis Lee Bohnsack, 61, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday (July 7, 2006) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Keith Scott of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Dennis L. Bohnsack memorial fund. Dennis was born on April 5, 1945 in Mason City, the son of Walter and Agnes Bohnsack. He graduated from Mason City High School in May 1963. Dennis was in the United States Navy and served from 1963 to 1967. He was very proud to serve his country. Dennis was united in marriage to Loyola (Sherry) Wendel on January 27, 1968. Two children were born to them. Shannon Bohnsack was born August 31, 1972 and Scott Bohnsack was born February 12, 1980. Dennis worked and retired from Leigh Cement Company as an operator in the control room. He liked to play cards, and enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family. He was also known to many friends as co-workers as ?Bony? or ?Bonz?. Dennis was often there to offer a helping hand and crack a quick joke. Dennis is survived by his two children; Shannon Foster of Mason City and Scott Bohnsack of Mason City; son-in-law, Russell Foster; three grandchildren, Steffen Lee Foster, Bryce Alexander Foster, Serena LaRué Foster; brothers, Gary Bohnsack and wife Lois of North Carolina, Merlin Bohnsack and wife Alice of Mason City; sisters, Ramona Morse of Mason City, Marilyn Lankford of Mason City, Donna Brummund and husband Van of Mason City; and dear friend Robert Askildson. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Agnes Bohnsack, brother Dale Bohnsack, and sisters Marion Billings and Judy Dewitt.
