Denzil W. Jones

Mason City ? Denzil W. Jones, 72, of 1014 17th Street NE, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at his home. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday (July 7, 2006) at the Free Methodist Church, 604 23rd St. SW with the Rev. Larry Day officiating. Inurnment will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph?s Columbarium. There will be no visitation. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or the Free Methodist Church. Denzil Wayne Jones was born January 26, 1934 in Sheffied, IA the son of Lee and Maude (Titus) Jones. Denzil attended and graduated from Sheffield schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and served his country in the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. He married Donna Boyd on December 5, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. In 1957 he moved to Mason City where he worked various construction jobs until beginning work with Decker?s where he worked for eighteen years. He then went to work for Cerro Gordo County Care where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for 19 years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a member of the North Iowa Retriever?s Club He is survived by his wife, Donna of Mason City; sons, Dave Jones and wife Beth of Mason City and Dallas Jones and wife Ann of Mason City; grandchildren, Katie, Jake, Ian, Alex, Hannah, and Tanner Jones all of Mason City; sister, Marguerite Tidman of Hampton, IA; brother, Joseph Jones of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Helen, Ellen, and Marcella Jones and Ramona Walker; brothers, John Paul Jones and Marshall E. Jones.
