NEW LONDON, MINNESOTA: Diane Kay Morel, 56, a former Mason City resident, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in New London. A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 25, 2014 at Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Diane Kay Morel Memorial Fund. Diane was born July 9, 1957 in Mason City the daughter of Richard and Kathryn (Beaver) Morel. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1975, the attended and graduated from the Gemological Institute of America, Santa Monica, California in 1978. Diane later received her Associate Arts Degree from NIACC. She married Timothy Buss in September of 1979 in Mason City. She served as vice president of Mr. B’s Auto Body. Diane owned and operated Diane K Buss Interiors here in Mason City for a number of years. She had a keen eye for Interior Design and touched many people through the years. Diane was part owner of Gold Leaf Alpacas where she was involved in the breeding and showing of the animals. She moved to Key West, Florida in October of 2008 and most recently lived in Little Rock, Arkansas. While living in Mason City, Diane was involved with Mason City Youth Hockey, Chamber of Commerce, TTT, and the Mason City Prairie Playground Project. Diane is survived by her children, Nikolaus Buss of Mason City, Kristofor Buss of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Zachary Buss and fiancé Amanda Umberg of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and; grandchildren, Preston, Alexyss, and Parker; father, Richard Morel Sr. of New London, Minnesota; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Morel Jr. of Mason City, Kraig Morel of Mason City; sister, Dawn (Mark) Bruggeman of Edina, Minnesota; several nieces and 1 nephew. Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn; brother, Brad Morel; grandson, Zaine Buss.
