Donald D. Steinberg

Donald Dean Steinberg, 77, of Mason City, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday (February 27, 2007) at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware, with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday (February 26, 2007) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, and one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials may be directed to the Donald D. Steinberg Memorial Fund. Donald Dean Steinberg, son of George and Hazel (Steele) Steinberg, was born January 5, 1930 in rural Buffalo Center, Iowa. He graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1947. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. Donald married Gelaine Erdahl on September 20, 1952 and to this union two children were born; Randall and Mary. He farmed near Buffalo Center until December 8, 1988. Donald married Olga (Sager) DeMeo at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minnesota on April 12, 1978. They moved to Mason City on December 8, 1988. Donald was confirmed and became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was employed at Kraft Foods and then at Hy-Vee West and Hy-Vee East until his health failed. Donald retired in 2004. Donald is survived by his wife Olga of Mason City; one son, Randall Steinberg and wife Cheryl of Buffalo Center, IA; one daughter, Mary Albrecht and husband Richard of Oronoco, MN; three step-sons, Arlo Sager and wife LeAnn of Fairmont, MN, Darrel Sager and wife Linda of Fairmont, MN, Curtis Sager of Truman, MN; one step-daughter, Audrey Mohr and husband Otto of Mapleton, MN; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Steenhard and husband Alfred of Buffalo Center, IA, Marlys Bruns of Titonka, IA; many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two brothers-in-law.
