Donald E. “Don” Sabbann, 86, of Mason City, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 4th Street SE with Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church or donor’s choice. Don was born August 15, 1927 in Monona, Iowa the son of Ewald and Hilma (Klinge) Sabbann. He graduated from Monona High School. Following high school, he farmed around the Monona area. Don married Dolores Wilson May 31, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They moved to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin where Don worked in broadcasting. In 1965, they moved to Mason City where Don took a position with KGLO Radio and Television. In 1970, Don ventured into community banking moving to Newton, Iowa to work in a bank there. From Newton, he and Dolores moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska for 2 years before eventually purchasing the Corwith State Bank, Corwith, Iowa in 1975. Later on, Don would also become involved with Farmers State Bank. He was a former bank president and board member of both the Corwith State Bank and Farmers State Bank. He also served in various capacities with the North Central Agency. Don was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. A few of his interests included golfing, singing, traveling, especially to McGregor, Iowa and wintering in Florida. He also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don is survived by wife, Dolores of Mason City; Son, Brad (Julie) Sabbann of rural Manly; son-in-law, Rich Halverson of Mason City; 4 grandchildren, Chrissy (Brent) Whipple of Mason City, Sasha Sabbann of Wisconsin, Kelli (Brad) Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Nate (Amy) Halverson of Mason City; 9 great grandchildren, Jaidyn, Taylor, Kaya, Lauryn, Hayley, Kane, Marley, Adrian, and Kaylin; 1 sister, Marcella Tayek of Monona; 1 brother, Robert Sabbann of Rochester, Minnesota; Don was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Andrea “Andi” Halverson; sister, Mardella Houg.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
