Donald M. Dye, 90, of 304 3rd St. NE, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Wendy Abrahamson, St. John?s Episcopal Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Donald Dye Memorial Fund. Don was born October 20, 1914 in Mason City the son of Julius and Elizabeth (Studley) Dye. Don graduated from Mason City High School in 1932 then attended Mason City Junior College. He married Luella Campbell January 2, 1938 in Rockwell. She died in 1970. He would later marry Edith Mooney. Don worked as a foreman in several departments for the Armour Company for 43 years. He retired in 1975. Don was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church, Benevolence Masonic Lodge #145 A.F. & A.M. where he was past worshipful master, Sons of the American Revolution, charter member of the Hawkeye Camera Club and Wigwam N Wagon Campers. Don was also a member of the Mason City Senior Activity Center, Armour Retirees and a former member of the North Iowa Genealogical Society. He enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to travel to Europe, the Orient, South America and all 50 states. Don is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Opkis and husband Alvin of Rudd; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hauswirth of Clear Lake, Debora Opkis of Mason City, Mark Opkis of Nora Springs, Diane Carlson and husband Tim of Mason City, Jarrod Opkis and wife Carolyn of Nora Springs, Wendy Coyle and husband Mark of Rockford; great grandchildren, Cassandra, Brandi, Amanda, Jonathan, Logan, Levi and Cameron. Don was preceded in death by his parents, 1st and 2nd wife?s, brothers, Albert and Elmer; 2 sisters, Mildred Steece and Kathryn Mondt; daughter, Marlys Amos; great grandson, Zachary; good friend, Vivian Hansen.
