Donna M. Maxson, 89, of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th Street N.W., with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour prior to the church service. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Donna Maxson memorial fund in care of the family. Donna Marie Carson was born February 16, 1925, in Mason City, the daughter of William Frederick and Gladys Lucille (Snell) Carson. On October 15, 1941, Donna married Ernest William Maxson in Bethany, MO. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1943. For a short time, Donna worked at Civil Service Dental Clinic as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Messer in Fort Mead, MD. Donna was also a homemaker and a devoted wife to Ernie for over 61 years. They were never apart until his death 12 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna also enjoyed yard work. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. Donna is survived by 2 daughters: Kathleen A. Hackbart and husband Kenneth of Mason City, and Judy K. Curley and husband Russell of Cincinnati, OH; 3 grandchildren: Nikole Trustin and husband Deon of Mason City, Michael Matz and wife Amanda of Vancouver, WA and Martha Curley of Cincinnati; and 5 great grandchildren: Daniel Trustin, Wesley Trustin, Codie Matz, Rylee Trustin and Zachariah Matz. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on June 5, 2002; 2 brothers in infancy; 2 sisters: Lois Colby and Norma O’Brian; and 3 brothers-in-law: Orville Colby, Oscar Ketchum and Harold O’Brian.
Cemetery:
Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
