Donna R Hejna

Donna R. Hejna, 66, of 302 2nd St. NE, died Monday (March 7, 2005) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A memorial mass will be held 10:30 AM Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams with Rev. Jon Seda officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. A scriptural wake service will be held at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the Donna R. Hejna Memorial Fund. Donna was born March 10, 1938 in Willow Lake, South Dakota the daughter of Howard and Edna (Gonstead) Ohlsen. She graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1956 and received her nursing training in Mitchell, South Dakota. Donna married Steve Hejna August 20, 1966 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Hejna?s moved to Mason City in 1967. Donna worked as an RN at Americana Nursing Home. She also served as the bookkeeper for the family business, Roto-Rooter, for 28 years. She retired in 1995 when the business was sold. Donna was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed her monthly card club, bowling, baking, ceramics and decorating her home at Christmas. Her greatest enjoyment was being able to raise her two children while staying at home and working. She is survived by two children, Paul Hejna and wife Kathy of Mason City, Sara Bollwhan and husband Josh of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Aaron and Jessica Bollwhan, Emily and Rachel Hejna; brother, Kermit Ohlsen and wife Ann of Waconia, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Steve.
