Doraine A. Dee Hansen, 92, of Mason City, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Center.  Funeral services will be held on Monday (June 9, 2008) at 10:30AM at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 329 East State St., Mason City, with Pastor Paul Nelson of St. James Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will be held in the Manly Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Memorials may be directed to; 313 North Park Street, St. Ansgar, Iowa 50472.
 
Doraine A. Hansen was born January 3, 1916 in Manly, IA, the daughter of James and Margaret (Knudson) Pinta.  Dee attended school in Manly and graduated in 1933.  She then continued her education at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, where she received her teaching certificate.   Dee began her career as an elementary teacher in Grafton, she then taught elementary school in New Hartford, and Forest City.  Dee married Conklin Hansen on August 18, 1946 in Manly, Iowa, to this union, one son, Jeffrey was born.  Dee later continued her education through Drake University where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1968.  Dee taught in Mason City for the duration of her career, until retiring on June 2, 1978.  
 
Dee was a very passionate and talented gardener who was known for her wonderful vegetables.  She also loved everything that the outdoors had to offer and was most content when she was fishing with her family.  She also enjoyed nature, animals and loved to travel.  Throughout her life, Dee traveled the entire United States and most of Canada.  She was a devoted and longtime member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, where she was an active member.  She also was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Garden Club in Mason City.  Dee was a proud Norwegian and enjoyed the traditions and foods of her heritage.
 
Dee is survived by her son, Jeffrey J. Hansen and wife Lisa of St. Ansgar; grandchildren, Jamie Remster and husband Brent of Des Moines, Stephanie Cota and husband Jim of Kensett, Leslie Gavrila and husband Dan of Coralville, IA and Clark Jorgensen of Loveland, Colorado; great grandchildren, Gabe and Tyke, Jacob and Parker, Aidan and Owen; nephews, OBrien Tyrrell and wife Donna of Northwood , Mike Pinta and wife Marilyn of Manly, as well as other relatives and friends.  
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Conklin in 1996; brother, Leland Pinta; and her sister, Arlene Tyrrell.
