MASON CITY Doris A. Dischler, 71, of Mason City, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 31, 2009, at Hanford Community Church, RR 3 in Mason City, with Pastor Scott Sokol officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and then continuing one hour prior to the service Friday morning at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Doris A. Dischler memorial fund in care of the family.\r\n
Doris was born on December 21, 1937, in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Charles and Francis (Merchant) Miller. She married Bill Haag in 1954 and from that union came four children: Mike, Kathy, Russell, and Lori Haag. On May 3, 1988, she was united in marriage to Dennis Dischler in Reno, Nevada. Doris enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, flea markets, and yard sales. She will always be remembered for the great homemaker she was.\r\n
Doris is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Mason City; 3 children, Mike Haag of Otoe, NE, Russell Haag (Sam) of Syracuse, NE, Lori Haag (Dean Adams) of Mason City; 3 step-children, Scott Dischler (Cary) of Rockwell City, IA, David Dischler (Laura) of Fort Dodge, IA, Laura Rodriguez (Steve) of Humboldt, IA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Duane Miller of Florida, Vern Miller, Ivan Miller, Gary Miller, all of Mason City; sisters, Audrey Johnson and Joyce Francis, both of Mason City. \r\n
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathy Haag; brothers, Darold Miller, Don Miller; sister, Mary Bryant.
