Dorothy B. Kay

Dorothy B. Kay, 83, of 4 3rd Street NW, died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Rockwell Care Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Paul C. Nelson, St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Dorothy B. Kay Memorial Fund. Dorothy was born November 16, 1923 in Goodell Township the daughter of Henry L. and Olga C. (Neff) Griffen. She moved to Mason City at a young age and attended Mason City schools. Dorothy married Kermit E. Kay January 29, 1939 in Mason City. The centerpiece in her life was always her family, they came first. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dancing, reading, bus travel tours and the Lawrence Welk Show. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Sandra J. Lichman of Mason City, son, Steve Kay and wife Ellen of Mason City, grandchildren, Brad L. Lichman, James R. Kay and Jason S. Kay all of Mason City, Chris Blackmon and wife Tracy of Goldsboro, North Carolina, great grandchildren, Cody and Autumn Blackmon of Goldsboro, North Carolina, 2 very dear friends, Leona and Sharon Funk. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kermit; 3 brothers, Harvey, Kenneth and Marvin and 1 sister, Madeline.
