Dorothy I. Larson

Dorothy I. Larson, 83, of 4 3rd St. NW, died Friday, November 11, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. James Magelssen officiating. Interment will be in Concordia Cemetery, Joice, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Opportunity Village or Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. Dorothy was born June 30, 1922 in Joice, Iowa the daughter of Wilhelm and Tressa (Ulstad) Otto. She graduated from Joice High School in 1940. Dorothy lived and worked in West Bend and Thompson, Iowa for a short time. She was united in marriage to Royden Larson May 26, 1946 in Joice. They moved to Woden, Iowa in 1963 where Dorothy would later serve as mayor. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Woden. She retired in 1987. Dorothy moved to Mason City in 2002. She had served on the Hancock County Hospital Board of Directors, was an active member of her church while living in Woden and was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Dorothy is survived by 2 sons, Lon Larson and wife Linda Krypel of Des Moines, Ronald Larson and friend Penny Nelson of Mason City; grandchildren, Christopher Larson, Brett Larson, Kristina Selander, Eric Selander, Sara Larson, Mark Larson and wife Jennifer and David Larson; sisters, Delores Muller of Mason City, Helen Groe of Lake Mills, brothers, Dale Otto and wife Marilyn of Central, Texas, Harold Otto and wife Jo of Lake Mills; sister-in-laws, Maynis Aamodt and husband Carroll of Northwood, Marilyn Larson of Clear Lake, Beverly Larson of Forest City. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Royden; brother, Carl and sister, Florence.
