Dorothy J. Austin

Dorothy J. Austin, 86 of O?Fallon, Missouri formerly of Mason City, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Delmar Gardens of O?Fallon. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia with Rev. Jo Frahm Watkins officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church Wednesday one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church. Dorothy was born December 30, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Julius and Lillian (Stein) Boisen. She graduated from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1939. She attended Mac Murray College for Women in Jacksonville, Illinois and the University of Iowa. Dorothy married Phillip M. Austin August 8, 1943 in Cedar Rapids. The Austin?s lived in Waterloo, Ventura, Cedar Falls, and moved to Mason City in 1976. Following her husband?s death, Dorothy moved to O?Fallon in December of 2004. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Occidental Study Club and the Cedar Falls Women?s Club. She enjoyed knitting, being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Dorothy is survived by her son, Charles A. Austin and wife Pamela of Denver, Iowa; daughter, Jo Ann Borglum and husband Michael of O?Fallon, Missouri; grandchildren, Brooks, Kyle and Jennifer Borglum. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband, Phillip.
